Ok, here is my first ever book review... and it encompasses five books that we were mesmerized by at our house. Josiah, 5th grade, couldn't find anything to read after finishing The Lord of the Rings series and I felt like he needed something fun and easy but still captivating. We looked online and came across this series, which we found at the library.
Jerry Jenkins, who also wrote the Left Behind series, wrote this fabulous, loose allegory about the fall of man and how we need a savior to reconnect us with the truth of who we are and where we come from and with the father who is good and is for us.
It's about a boy in the highlands, Owen (timid, weakling) who encounters strange things happening in his house, which is a bookstore that he lives in and runs with his dad, who is not very emotionally connected to him. Each strange thing leads to another and as he seeks to find answers, he is led to another world, the lowlands. Through the process of the adventures, Owen transforms and becomes an amazing young man who possesses many abilities, strengths and overcomes great obstacles, both personal and literal.
Josiah and I loved this series and in process of trying to find another to get started with. Taking suggestions...
