We took the kids fishing one Sunday afternoon at Lance's parents' neighborhood pond and boy did they catch some fish. Titus has been building this day up in his mind for months (since February, when he got his fishing rod) and planned to catch us dinner. Thankfully, he was the first one to get a bite and pull it in! It was so exciting! I probably scared all the other fish away with all of my excitement, but then his excitement dwindled when he realized the fish was too little to keep and he watched as Lance threw it back in. We explained to him that they need to be bigger to eat them and he went back to fishing. He caught one more and had many more bites to excite him for the next 2-3 hours. Jonah had lots of excitement as he caught six fish! He was okay with throwing them back, but he was not okay with putting the worms on the hook. He made Pop take care of that for him. Josiah was fishing at a much more steady pace, it took a while for him to get a bite and we were all wondering what to do to help him. Finally, the race was on as he pulled one in, then another and another for a total of four. He was thrilled! Nan even caught one fish! The funny thing was teaching them how to tug gently on the line when they get a bite to get the hook in the fish. There were many vain attempts to hook the fish but the tug was so 'non' gentle that the hook and worm came flying out of the water and past our heads. It was quite hilarious! It was a time to remember and we can't wait for the next trip!
